EXPECTING A GOOD YEAR

EXPECTING A GOOD YEAR

We need to approach the New Year with faith in God and not allow the negativity from the past to resurface in 2020. Faith people can be positive people because of their belief in God’s goodness and grace. Knowledge of both come from the Word of God. Faith in God is faith in His Word and it produces positive expectations.

Negativity, on the other hand, is a belief or belief system rooted in wrong thinking. Some people expect their days to only be dark, dreary, and depressing. Negative people are believing something coming from wrong thoughts. They need to refocus their belief and capture their negative thoughts. Think about it: pessimists, skeptics, cynics, and critics are all believing in something and it is usually based on wrong thoughts or wrong thinking.

As Christians we are supposed to challenge those beliefs and thoughts. Second Corinthians 10:4, 5 says it is a warfare, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

This surprises some Believers to realize that every thought that comes into their brain is not just their thought. The enemy uses thoughts to take us captive to his thinking Separate yourself from your thoughts and sort them according to Philippians 4:8 which says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Believe the ones that line up and agree with God’s Word and cast down or fling away all the rest. Realize we can still think wrong thoughts after we are saved which is why we are told to renew our mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2).
