John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Freedom is a very precious possession and that freedom is ours because of Jesus. In His ministry, He proclaimed freedom to the captives (Isaiah 61:1, 2) but in going to the Cross He also provided freedom. Every child of God can live free from sin, sickness, satan, and the curse. Jesus said that the key to freedom was truth. John 8:31, 32 says, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” That Truth is the Word of God and it will sanctify us or separate us from the evils of this world (John 17:17).
Truth is for our protection as well as our freedom and it is time for Truth to be a love in our life. We live in a world where the spirit of antichrist, the spirit of error (1 John 4:3-6) is already working and bringing increasing lawlessness. It undermines all that is Godly and moral and will climax with the introduction to this planet of the lawless one himself, the person of the antichrist. Those who will ultimately be deceived by the antichrist will have this one thing in common according to 2 Thessalonians 2:8-10 which says, “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because THEY RECEIVED NOT THE LOVE OF THE TRUTH, that they might be saved.” Love of the Truth repels the spirit of error and the antichrist spirit.
We also live in the time period known as the Last Days (2 Timothy 3:1) that are described as perilous times. It is a time period also described where a time will come when even some Believers will reject Truth. Second Timothy 4:3, 4 says, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall TURN AWAY THEIR EARS FROM THE TRUTH, and shall be turned unto fables (tales, legend, myths, stories; ‘untrue stories and false tales’).” They turn their ears away from the Truth simply because it isn’t what they want to hear and will pile up teachers that tickle their ear. We need to be lovers of the Truth and loyal to the Truth (2 Corinthians 13:8) in the Last Days. It is time for Truth and it will protect us!
