One of the wonderful things about the Word of God is that its’ truth covers the entire spectrum of human time and reality. The Bible covers past, present, and future realities. The time of our lives past and present are nothing compared to that which is to come in the future, in eternity. The Apostle Paul prayed for the Believers at Philippi that they would “… approve the things that are excellent…” or “distinguish the things that differ,” meaning discern what really matters and what is of real value in life from God’s perspective in Philippians 1:9.
We can see what people value, hold in high regard, esteem highly or assign high worth to by what they will not miss for anything. They will not let anything get in the way of their doing it. Some people will not miss their social media use, online shopping, sporting event, recreation, workouts, dining out, trips, etc., but will plan their time around, adapt their schedules, and make any necessary sacrifice for these things they highly value. Time in fellowship with God, assembling at Church, serving, sharing the Gospel, and financial support to the Church, now that’s another story.
The Bible has truth about the future that tells us what things are of true value from Earth that make it to Heaven:
1. PEOPLE WHO GET SAVED FROM FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP OF OUR RESOURCES.
Luke 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail (die), they may receive you into everlasting habitations (Heaven).
2. OUR PRAYERS.
Revelation 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
3. OUR WORKS
Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
4. OUR WORDS
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
5. OUR THOUGHTS
Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
6. UNSAVED PEOPLE BUT ONLY FOR A TEMPORARY LAYOVER.
Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
