SEEKING THE KING’S INTEREST

Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

God has more of the good things you may have already received and He has always wanted your life to be better. However good your life is He has more for you. We are the redeemed of the Lord and partakers of an inheritance. To enjoy it all, we have to live our life in such a way so that what’s most important to Him is most important to us. His priorities have to be our priorities. A priority is something that has a right of precedence over something else. Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the Kingdom of God (a domain over which a King rules) and His righteousness. Things will be added to our life that most of the world seeks after and worries about.

Can you imagine sending Him a message by our actions and lifestyle that says, “I’m not interested in your interests, it’s not convenient, I don’t have time, maybe later,” and then in the same breath say, “I need you to help me with my finances, now?” We cannot ask the King’s blessing and favor if not seeking the King’s interests. Sowing and reaping is certainly a law in the Kingdom. Can we sow disinterest, or can we sow, “You won’t rule over me,” by the way we live and then reap His interest, blessing, and favor?

As children of God we are a part of the present expression of God’s Kingdom, the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are more than just subjects of the King for we are sons of God. God is our Father, we are members of the Body of Christ, and we are joint heirs with Christ. We are Family. Even in a family, though, a responsible parent doesn’t entrust valuable possessions to an immature child. Maturity is often revealed in our priorities.
