Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
John 5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
Jesus our Lord and Savior came to where we were in our fallen state on Earth to die on the Cross as a sacrifice to pay the penalty for the sins of the world. He also came to do the works of God as He went about preaching, teaching, healing, and delivering oppressed humanity from the oppression of the devil and the destructive curse. First John 3:8 also adds “… For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. God the Father prepared a natural human body in the Earth for Jesus to do God’s will (Hebrews 10:5, 7) and to do God’s Work (John 5:36).
We are now the Body of Christ and we are in this Body to do God’s Will and Work. What God did through a Body called Jesus He wants to do through a Body called the Church. Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father John 14:12.”
God planned for all the Body of Christ to do God’s will and work in the Earth. His plan was for all members of the Church, which is His Body, to become producers not just consumers. We are not in the Body just to have and experience something but to do and produce something. God has foreordained that we are to produce (Ephesians 2:10). Being a producer is more than a call it is built into us. We are created to multiply. It is in our nature (Genesis 1:26-28). God chose and ordained us to be producers or to bear fruit (John 15:16).
When it comes to a local Body of Christ or local Church, being fruitful and productive it takes everyone or as Ephesians 4:16 says, “Every joint supplieth according to the effectual working in the measure of every part maketh increase.” When the members of the Body find their place and function, churches reap and keep the harvest and have fruit that remains. Members of the Body of Christ need to answer the call of God to the service or ministry and function in their spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8; Ephesians 4:11,12; 1 Corinthians12: 7-11). Great churches are built by great Believers not great sermons.
