Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the MYSTERY of his WILL, according to his good pleasure which he hath PURPOSED in himself.
God has a destiny for every born again Believer. Destiny means to determine beforehand or a predetermined course of events. There are specific things and events He planned to take place in our life and He has specific purposes He wants to accomplish through us. This is not the same as fate where you have no choice and it will happen automatically without our choice in the matter.
Ephesians 1:9 describes this destiny with three words He uses in this verse: MYSTERY, WILL, and PURPOSED. “Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself.” That reveals that:
We are a part of God’s Will – what He determined and decreed shall be v. 9.
We are a part of God’s Eternal Purpose – what He intended, planned, and aimed at v. 9.
We are a part of God’s Hidden Mystery – what was a secret but now revealed v. 9.
In the counsels of the Trinity, an Eternal Covenant was made in eternity past before the foundation of the world. It was the Covenant of Redemption and it is in this Eternal Covenant that God chose us, willed, and purposed us as a member of the Body of Christ, the Church (read Ephesians 1:4, 5, 9-11, 22, 23). Jesus is the Head over all things to a Body called the Church of which we are individual members (Ephesians 1:22; 1 Corinthians 12:12, 14, 20, 27). God has had a claim on our life prior to birth, marriage, children, business pursuit or career. Just like God said to Jeremiah the prophet in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” You were positioned by God even before you were created. It actually began before the foundation of the world and was a part of the hidden mystery of the Church once kept secret but now revealed Ephesians 3:1-11.
It is in this place of destiny we will find all the right relationships, opportunities, and blessings God has prepared for us. Don’t allow the enemy of your soul to move you or stir up your hopes to look elsewhere. God didn’t save the wrong person. You have a destiny and you belong to a Body called the Church.
