God wants every believer to grow spiritually and become like Jesus. Spiritual growth is not automatic. It does not just happen once we are saved. It requires commitment and effort. We have to want to, decide to, and make an effort to grow.
Becoming like Jesus is the result of the commitments we make. We become whatever we are committed to. Thank God it is not just up to us alone because God, aside from giving us the Holy Spirit within us, has put leadership over us in our lives. Ephesians 4:8-11 tells us “He gave gifts unto men” which in effect are to help us grow. They are free gifts to help us grow. There is a measure of God’s grace that He planned for us to receive from them. Grace is Heaven’s help, enabling power, and strength.
In the book of Judges a commonly repeated phrase is “… every man did the which was right in his own eyes” (Judges 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25). Without leadership, no central rule, and no one leading them, they were driven from their promised land. The lesson was God planned their entry into the Promised Land of their destiny under leadership yet they tried to live without it. The result was they were driven out of their destiny several times requiring God to have to raise up judges to help bring them back in. If you aren’t a leader who is your leader and do they know it?
