Every day seems to be full of more and more noise about issues crying out for our attention. The current political climate in America and the world provides an abundance of noise and distraction in the daily news cycle. We definitely need to be aware and discerning while not being distracted from our purpose on Earth.

Many today are looking for a Word from God to give direction to their life and to give them a sense of significance. Some are waiting to be called out of the crowd and to have a personal word of prophecy spoken by an anointed man of God over them. That’s nice and fine if it happens but I have come to realize that the surest word of prophecy is the one that is already written.  2 Peter 1:19,20 calls the Scriptures themselves the prophecy of Scripture and a more sure word of prophecy. It’s all the Biblical revelation prophesied in the O.T. and N.T. The prophecy of Scripture did not come from men and their subjective influence but directly from the Spirit of God.

Those things found in Scripture that predict something to happen are destined to happen. The surest word of prophecy is the one already written. These are fixed prophecies, unchanging, sure, steadfast, accurate and will happen exactly the way they are predicted. God’s heart for the harvest are revealed in them:

John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Let’s get and keep our eyes, our heart, and our labor into the harvest.
