Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Many Christians are uptight, under stress, and struggling. Stress is mental pressure, emotional strain, and tension; it is pressure resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. A lot of stress is a byproduct of 21st century living. Yes, we need to get enough sleep, eat properly, and exercise but some stress can be a sin against God’s rest and peace that we need to repent of. A spiritual rest of faith in His grace is now available to every believer to receive all of God’s provisions due to the work Jesus (Hebrews 4:9-11).
Every stressful thing is not always a problem to be prayed about but rather a call to repentance. Repentance still is a message for the Church to hear. Each place or point of stress can be a place where we are not yoked to Jesus, learning of Him, and doing His will. When we pursue our own aims, convinced they are God’s, it will always lead to stress. It is also true that as long as we seek to satisfy our desire for affirmation and success by pleasing others stress will remain.
Peace can only rule our heart when we completely abandon our personal desires in order to obey His will. Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light Matthew 11:28-30. The yoke is His will. Don’t be yoked to your own “will” or plow in a field of your own making.
1. Jesus has a “will” about everything in our life; all we need to do is please Him.
2. He wants us to know His “will” or learn about it.
3. God gives us enough grace (enabling power) every day to follow that “will.” His grace is sufficient.
It takes the submission of our will to His will to walk in it and receive its benefits.
