2 Timothy 4:16-18 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me…, Notwithstanding THE LORD STOOD WITH ME AND STRENGTHENED ME; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Paul was in a terrible situation. He talks about all those that were in Asia (present day Asia Minor/Turkey) who forsook him or turned against him (2 Timothy 1:15). He was not just experiencing rejection from one or two people, this was a whole region. How in the world was he going to fulfill his assignment when all that was around him was rejection and opposition?

Somebody else was standing with him. He did not need the help of man, he needed the help of God. They all forsook him, but the Lord stood with him.  It is nice when you get support on the outside from people, but we have inside support available to us. Every one of us will face circumstances or situations where it seems like we are all alone and everyone in fact may have left us and we face rejection. At those times the Lord will strengthen us by His Spirit within us. Many Believers have known the Lord to heal them, given them peace, prosper them, and comfort them, but what about strength?  He will strengthen His people. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee:  be not dismayed; for I am thy God:  I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

This strength is not mere natural strength but the supernatural strength from an Almighty God. Colossians 1:11 says, “Strengthened with ALL might (miraculous power, strength, ability), according to HIS GLORIOUS POWER, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. It is a strength that gives us the ability to do what we could not do before on our own. We are told in Ephesians 3:16 that the source is from God’s Spirit within us, “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be STRENGTHENED WITH MIGHT BY HIS SPIRIT in the inner man.”

The Holy Ghost on the inside of you will give you strength.  He is in you to strengthen you.  At your weakest point, He is there to strengthen you.  The Lord will stand with you today as you call upon Him in prayer and in faith. Ask the Lord to strengthen you with might by His Spirit in your inner man, in Jesus’ Name.
