John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
The Bible often uses symbolism or figurative language to help convey spiritual realities or truths. One area of symbolism is the Holy Spirit as the wind. The thought of the Holy Spirit as the wind is used in being born of the Spirit in John 3:6-8. The thought of the Holy Spirit as the wind is also used in being baptized in the Spirit when the Spirit came on Pentecost described in Acts 2:2 as the “rushing mighty wind.” We can understand some of the things about the nature of the Holy Spirit by understanding the nature of the wind. We can also understand something of God’s overall or main streams of His Spirit moving in the Earth by the symbolism of the wind.
In describing the wind and weather we often hear news meteorologists use the term, “Winds Aloft.” This is the nomenclature or terminology meteorologists use to describe a forecast of specific atmospheric conditions of wind and temperature at certain altitudes typically measured at feet above sea level in elevation. Its components give wind direction, wind speed, and temperature. They are caused by the energy of the Sun, the Earth’s rotation, and pressure in the air. They affect the climate of Earth. They are the main flow of winds that affect the surface wind, climate, and weather.
Using the symbolism of the wind moving to the Spirit moving, and the “winds aloft,” to the Spirit aloft, we might say there are overall streams of the wind of His Spirit moving. There are three main flows or main wind streams of His Spirit operating in the Earth (or main plans He is in the Earth bringing to completion by His Spirit moving). First Corinthians 10:32 seems to indicate three ethnic divisions included in the plans of God for the human race when it tells us, “Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the Church of God.” It would stand to be reasonable to think God’s Spirit is also moving in these plans. God’s Spirit is in the Earth bringing to pass God’s will and plans.
Flowing from the throne of Heaven in the realm of the spirit is His Spirit:
- He is bringing to completion His plan to harvest the GENTILES (nations) of the World.
- He is bringing to completion His plan to build and glorify His CHURCH.
- He is bringing to completion His plan to bless and restore ISRAEL; all end time prophecy revolves around this.
Ask yourself: What am I doing to bring in a harvest of souls? What am I doing to help build His Church? What am I doing to bless the nation of Israel? Anytime we get involved sowing into and laboring in these mainstreams, it will pull us into purpose, joy, blessing, and increase. There is maximum fulfillment, joy, increase, and blessing for us in the amount we obey His plans. Christians try to operate in maximum blessing but they live their lives cross current to these mainstreams and it will not work very good.
