God has power for all His children. Psalm 62:5 says, “…power belongeth unto God.” There is supernatural power God has that is ready to be revealed in our lives in these Last Days (1 Peter 1:5). Power is ability and capacity. Capacity makes capable what is needed. This power is in two areas:
- God has power to work IN us (and for us) Ephesians 3:20
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
This is power that helps our life, our walk, and ministers to us.
- God has power to work THROUGH us Acts 1:8
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
This is power that helps us, but it also is designed to help us minister to others in supernatural ways in our witness.
For God’s power to work through us, we must first experience our “connection” to power and then become “channels” of His power. You can be saved and not have this connection to power (Acts 19:1-6). When connection is made to this power (Acts 1:8) there is an initial supernatural sign, “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).” This connection to power experience isn’t about “tongues” or speaking in a supernatural language but it is about receiving supernatural power, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you… Acts 1:8.” This connection to power makes possible other supernatural manifestations of the Spirit as described in 1 Corinthians 12:5-11. There are nine manifestations listed (sometimes called gifts) and they can be grouped into three groups of three. They are nine ways God’s Spirit can manifest whenever He wants to SAY (tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy), REVEAL (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits), or DO (working of miracles, (extra-ordinary) faith, gifts of healings) something supernaturally.
What God did through a Body called Jesus He wants to do today through a Body called the Church. Jesus Himself said that the works He did we would do also (John 14:12). We must realize He did them because God anointed Him with Holy Ghost power (Acts 10:38). That power is available to work through every believer today once we experience this connection to power. Have you received this power since you believed?
