the initiative is on usMark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

The Early Church understood evangelism was for everybody Mark 16:20. We have the Great Commission to take the Gospel to the unsaved in the entire world. The pattern of Jesus’ ministry was outward bound and we should follow it. He went about all Galilee, their cities and villages (Matt. 4:23, 24; 9:35, 36; Acts 10:38) and told us to go out and compel them to come in (Luke 14:21, 23). We are His ambassadors, we have a Commission, and we have supernatural power to help us which are all reasons why we must take the Gospel to the unsaved. The initiative is on us as the Church, not on the unsaved world, to initiate contact with the Gospel. The word initiative means and includes:

The action of taking the first step.

The responsibility for beginning.

The right to introduce something.

The ability to think or act without being urged.

To start or initiate movement.

It is not God’s will for any to perish (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9) but also the unsaved man’s condition demands that we initiate contact. No one gets saved without contact. The condition of every unsaved person is why we MUST take the Gospel to them. This is the condition of every unsaved person:

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

This is why we must take the Gospel to them. The Bible further describes them saying that “There is none righteous and none that seeketh after God Romans 3:10, 11.” When Jesus spoke the parable of the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son in Luke 15 the seeker always represents God not man. God was seeking man not man as the seeker of God. That is one of the reasons Jesus came, to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10).
