LET THIS MIND BE YOUR MINDPhilippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Jesus’ work on the Cross made a provision for soundness of mind (2 Tim. 1:7) by the provision of the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). It is the answer for any problems within our soul (mind, will, and emotions). The mind of Christ is revealed in the Word of God as being in our spiritual nature (1 Corinthians 2:16). We are told to let this mind be in us or in our thinking, influencing us, because it is already something we have in our spirit.

WE HAVE IT AND YET WE ARE TOLD TO LET IT BE IN US. It is in us, in our spirit, but we don’t always let it influence our thoughts, words, motives, and actions. If we did there would be no need to be told to renew our mind (Roman 12:1-3) or cast down imaginations, high things, and thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

It belongs to every child of God as a part of the provisions of His grace. We are told to let this mind be in us which also was in Christ Jesus and humility is a dominant part of the mind of Christ. According to Philippians 2:3-8, the mind of Christ:

2:3 Esteems others better than themselves (Thinks more of others and less of oneself)

2:4 Looks on or out for the interests of others.

2:6 Surrenders its rights or doesn’t hold on to privilege.

2:7 Makes itself of no reputation and seeks no recognition.

2:8 Humbles itself, serves, and is obedient to ones assignment.

Let this mind, this humility of mind, be cultivated in you and in your natural mind. It won’t happen unless we let it be in us.
