Matthew 1:21-23 v. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. v. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, v.23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
The message of the Christmas Savior is a message we should trumpet all year long not just on December 25th. He is the one and only remedy to man’s sin. It is a certainty that there is no reason for Christmas without Jesus but there would have been no need for the Virgin Birth and Incarnation if there had not been any sin. Sin made the incarnation as the only answer to man’s need due to the sin nature being passed upon all men Romans 5:12. Sin is still the problem for men on Earth. Some call it “a challenge,” “my problem,” “my issue,” but I take issue with that and call it sin. Why? Because if you can call it sin, there is an answer for sin, and His name is Jesus, Savior.
Sin is the thief of joy, confidence, health, family, wealth, and self respect. Sin will still ruin any relationship. Sin at work, you can lose your job. Sin at the store and you can go to jail. Sin at home and it can cost you your family or marriage. Sin at school and it can cost you your education. The Good News is that Jesus the Savior was born to one day die and save all mankind from their sins.
He is the Savior Who saved us from the penalty of sin Romans 5:8, 9.
He is the Savior Who saved us from the power of sin Romans 6:14.
He is the Savior who saved us from the presence of sin Romans 8:23, 24.
Christmas truly is about remembering and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. There are many great truths about Jesus’ Christmas birth but none more powerful than the message proclaimed by the angel to the country shepherds in Luke 2:10, 11, “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a SAVIOR, which is Christ the Lord.”
The Christmas Birth is the truth of God becoming a man, entering our world, to be the Savior of the world.
