WHAT BUILDS?

WHAT BUILDS

1 Corinthians 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Jesus is building and we should be building too. Every time we preach the Gospel and someone is saved the Body of Christ , the Church, is built or added to (Acts 2:47). We can also add to, raise something higher, be constructive, or we can take away from, run something down, or be destructive. We should make the Church, our area of ministry, and people around us better for our having been there. We are to follow after the things that edify and builds others up as well as help build up the Body of Christ. Romans 14:19 says, “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.”

We are to seek to excel (be in excess; superabound) in building up the Body 1 Corinthians 14:12. What builds?

LOVE BUILDS.

1 Corinthians 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

FOLLOWING AFTER THE THINGS WHICH MAKE FOR PEACE BUILDS.

Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

DOING THINGS DECENTLY AND IN ORDER BUILDS.

1 Corinthians 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

GIVING PEOPLE THE WORD OF HIS GRACE BUILDS.

Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

SPEAKING THAT WHICH IS GOOD BUILDS.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

COMFORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT BUILDS.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort (encourage) yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

USING BIBLICAL AUTHORITY PROPERLY BUILDS.

2 Corinthians 10:8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST BUILDS.

Jude 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
