The Midterm Elections are over and the political TV adds, mailers, and phone calls will end (for awhile). Each side is claiming victory and losses and the political news will dominate the news cycle. I participated in the ever changing political system and did my part but I put my trust in my God Who never changes. God’s nature and character are unchangeable Malachi 3:6. The Prophet Isaiah said, “And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.” Even in the worst of times our hearts can be stable having His knowledge and wisdom about things that will never change:
God’s love for us Romans 5:8; 8:37-39.
His will for all men to come to salvation 1 Timothy 2:4.
His faithfulness will never change Numbers 23:19.
His mercy that endures forever Psalm 136:1.
The grace of God which is always sufficient 2 Corinthians 12:9.
The Word of God which is forever settled in Heaven Psalm 119:89.
He is still the all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere-present God to help us Job 36:4; Genesis 17:1; Psalm 139:7.
His truth will endure to all generations Psalm 100:5.
His will for us to prosper and be in health 3 John 2.
His commitment to our maturity Philippians 1:6.
Our spiritual inheritance 1 Peter 1:4.
Our faith is in an unchangeable God. He can be relied upon and depended upon. If something changes in our life that knocks us to and fro we can use our faith in God to resume our original upright position and maintain our equilibrium. So as Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.”
