There are many people who love God but have become disillusioned; they are sick, broke, frustrated, and have no real victory. Some are even making excuses and new doctrines for why the Word of God did not work. They need to know the secret of true victory. “…and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith,” 1 John 5:4. It is faith in Jesus’ victory over sin, satan, sickness, and the curse. It is faith for living life in this fallen world where we face the things Jesus won the victory over. The just, those declared righteous, have a recommended way of living. It is repeated four times by the Spirit of God:
“…just shall live by his faith,” Habakkuk 2:4.
“The just shall live by faith,” Romans 1:17.
“…for the just shall live by faith,” Galatians 3:11.
“Now the just shall live by faith…,” Hebrews 10:38.
The just are to live a certain way – it is not optional. Who? The just. Do what? Live by faith, so it is not a one time event. Who are the just? The just are those declared righteous, those saved by grace through faith, those born again, or those who have received Jesus as the Lord of their life.
We have a way to live now that we are born again and it is not the way we use to live. It is the way for living life and everything in your life (family, finances, health, etc.). It is not just when in trouble, under attack, or at our “whit’s end.” It is the recommended way of living for the just. The just must learn the system they have been born again into.
Every human born into this natural system has to learn the way to live in this natural system which will determine his success or failure. Anyone that wants to learn to be productive in the natural system recognizes the need for learning and training (doctors, teachers, plumbers, electricians, etc.). If we are to live by faith we should learn how to do that and operate in the spiritual system we have been born again into. Our faith is in a victory already won by our Lord Jesus Christ and it is a way of living our life while on Earth. We face everything in life not going toward victory but proceeding from a victory already won.
