WE HAVE OUR PART TO PLAY

WE HAVE OUR PART TO PLAY

God has a plan for wholeness, healing, and restoration for our lives.  It is His plan for changing you into the image of His Son Jesus.  It is called “the renewing of the mind” (Romans 12:2) and “the saving of the soul.”  There is a part of our being that was not directly affected in our salvation, born‑again experience.  That part is called the soul.  It is the part where we feel, think, and decide.  It is basically made up of the mind, will, and emotions.  This is the area within our lives that the Bible says can be defiled, darkened, evil affected, full of fears, anxieties, hurts, wounds, and brokenness.  God’s plan is wholeness for the whole man, spirit, soul, and body.  Without submitting to these processes designed to make us whole, things just do not change. Cooperation is the process of working together to the same end. Many know about change that comes from an experience but not much about the change that comes from God’s processes.

I frequently hear and read posts on social media sites about how God is going to do this … or God is going to do that…. Some even prophesy major changes coming to people they have no idea about what their behavior is causing in their life. My experience has been that God rarely gives one person “the message” or “the Word” for the entire Body of Christ. Just look in the Book of Revelation in the letters written to the seven local churches. Each had similar things said to them about hearing what the Spirit was saying but what the Spirit said to each Church was totally different. They were located in the same region of Asia Minor and only 60 or 70 miles apart from one another but there was no single Word or message. It was not all of what God was going to do but each had a different set of circumstances and each had their part to play or cooperation required on their part.

Change can only happen with our cooperation or doing our part. Change is not all up to God or what He is going to do. The power to change is His but the will to change is ours.

  1. WILL GOD CHANGE THE THOUGHTS WE LIVE IN EVERY DAY?

Not without our cooperation.

There are things we must not allow in our mind but should cast down 2 Corinthians 10:3‑5.

There are things we must think on Philippians 4:8.

  1. WILL GOD MAKE US ACT OR CHANGE OUR ACTIONS?

Not without our cooperation.

1 Peter 1:13 We must prepare ourselves for action.

James 1:22 We have to decide to do the Word.

  1. WILL GOD CHANGE US SO WE SERVE OTHERS RATHER THAN SELF?

Not without our cooperation.

Let this mind be in you Philippians 2:2‑8. If we let this happen we can change.

  1. WILL GOD CHANGE OUR ATTITUDE, WAYS OF THINKING, AND HOW WE RESPOND TO PEOPLE AND ADVERSE CIRCUMSTANCES?

Not without our cooperation.

Be renewed in the spirit of your mind Ephesians 4:23. Our attitude will not change unless we let Him change it.

  1. WILL GOD CHANGE OR TRANSFORM ANYTHING ABOUT OUR LIVES?

Not without our cooperation.

Romans 12:2 But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. This is not automatic.  This is personal and up to each individual.  This is an ongoing process. This is the key to a noticeable change.

James 1:21 There are things we have to put away and receive with meekness the implanted Word which is able to save our soul.

The things that remain or the residue of the effects of the Fall in our soul needs removed for the Word of God to take root and produce fruit. If you try to build a house on top of a garbage dump eventually what is underneath the house will seap up and begin to stink up the house.

  1. WILL GOD MAKE US FRUITFUL AND PRODUCTIVE?

Not without our cooperation.

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

We have to continue or abide in Him (maintain our fellowship) and continue in His Word (John 15:7) to produce fruit, more fruit, much fruit, and our fruit will remain (John 15:2, 5, 16).
