UNDERSTANDING OUR PURPOSE

UNDERSTANDING OUR PURPOSE

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

God has planned the best life a human being can live on planet Earth and it is found within His purpose. Purpose gives meaning to why we are here (why we exist) and what we are to do in life. It is the life God not only planned for us but also gifted us or placed gifts within us to help us accomplish it. Just like when we buy a product that says, “Satisfaction is guaranteed if used as directed,” so too our life will experience the highest satisfaction when we fulfill our intended use. Here is a list of verses related to God’s purpose (His intention) for our life:

  1. HIS WILL (What He determined and decreed should be).

Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

  1. PREDESTINED (Predetermined; decided beforehand).

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

  1. OUR FOREORDAINED WORKS (Prepared beforehand; already appointed).

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

  1. ETERNAL (It originates from and extends into eternity).

Ephesians 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

  1. OUR END DECLARED AT THE BEGINNING OF OUR LIFE

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel (purpose) shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

  1. WHERE WE ARE SET IN HIS BODY

1 Corinthians 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

  1. AN IRREVOCABLE HIGH, HOLY, HEAVENLY CALLING (A summons and an invitation we respond to).

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

  1. WHAT GOD WILL MAKE ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

  1. WHAT GIVES VISION WHEN IT COMES INTO OUR VIEW (Vision is God’s purpose coming into our view.  It is a reflection from the purpose of God).

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Acts 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee… 19 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision.

  1. THE GOOD, ACCEPTABLE, PERFECT WILL OF GOD (It is revealed as we renew our mind with the Word of God).

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
