John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Jesus has set every Believer free with a freedom unparalleled to what any human being could ever imagine as freedom. It is freedom from sin, sickness, satan, and the curse. It is freedom from man-made religious systems and rules. It is freedom, not to do as we want to, but to do as we ought to do. What we ought to do as defined by His righteousness and moral law. What we want to do could be sin and a transgression of the law (1 John 3:4) so our freedom is not just to do as we please. It is also freedom to choose, to be responsible for those choices and not bound by the wrong choices of others. We are not victims but victors; we are responsible not people who blame their actions on others.
A couple things to think about if you want to live in freedom:
- You cannot dictate everything that happens TO you, but you can dictate what happens IN you. Because you can dictate what happens in you, you can determine your outward response. Never say, “You made me do it.” Our response is under the control of our will not someone else’s will.
- You cannot control what OTHER PEOPLE DO TO YOU, but you can control what YOU DO TO OTHER PEOPLE. You are not responsible for others actions, but you are responsible for your actions. Take responsibility for who you are, what you have, and what you can do.
