2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
One of the wonderful things about the Word of God is that its’ truth covers the entire spectrum of human time and reality. The Bible covers past, present, and future realities. The time of our lives past and present are nothing compared to that which is to come in the future, in eternity. Second Corinthians 5:14, 15 exhorts us that the love of Christ compels us, presses us, and constrains us to no longer live for ourselves but unto Him who died for us. Jesus Who died for us is in eternity and cares about eternal realities. The Bible has truth about the future that tells us what things from Earth make it to Heaven and eternity:
- PEOPLE WHO GET SAVED FROM OUR FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP OF RESOURCES
Luke 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail (die), they may receive you into everlasting habitations (Heaven).
- OUR PRAYERS
Revelation 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
- OUR WORKS
Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
- OUR WORDS
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
- OUR THOUGHTS
Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
- UNSAVED PEOPLE BUT ONLY AS A TEMPORARY LAYOVER
Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Isn’t it time to live for what is of eternal value and begin to cut down everything else? If we only live like the world around us lives looking for fulfillment now, then we are not much different than lost people. Part of living by faith is passing through this Earth as a traveler and stranger because this isn’t our home. We look for a city whose builder and maker is God Hebrews 11:9, 10. It is time to set our affections on things above.
Colossians 3:1-4 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
