Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
In Christ Jesus we have redemption. Redemption covers all the plans to recover and restore man back to God’s original image and plan. It is all that was necessary to pay the price, to undo the work Satan and sin did in Adam. Redemption means release through payment of a ransom. The historical background of the Word gives the meaning of a person who would go into a slave market and buy out a slave, or redeem them through a ransom payment.
All redemption was by grace. That means all of God’s plans to save, heal, deliver, bless, and make man whole, spirit, soul, and body, were done in grace. Grace is all of God and is always based on God. All these plans were all of God and none of us, whether we respond to them or not. All these plans were initiated before we were ever here and every plan was based on God. The plan of redemption, which is the plan to save us, heal us, deliver us, bless us, keep us, and sanctify us, was the total work of God. We were not here to mess them up or add to its completion. We simply receive or respond to the completed plan.
Aren’t you glad all redemption was by grace? All the plans hinged on grace and God, not on us. We could not pay the price for redemption because God was not in the market to sell it and we were not qualified buyers to pay for it. We were the prisoners already incarcerated on death row, serving our maximum sentence, and it was without parole. But God paid the price. How far was He willing to go? The highest price, the blood of His Son.
In our world, value is determined by the price paid for something. Don’t let people’s opinions or words make you think you are worthless or have no value. Never put yourself down, either, for we have worth and value in God’s sight. What right do we have to belittle, diminish, or despise someone who:
God values so highly 1 Peter 1:19.
God loves so deeply Romans 5:8.
God has honored so royally John 1:12; 1 John 3:1.
God has provided for so fully Romans 8:32; 1 Corinthians 2:9, 10.
God has planned for so carefully Ephesians 1:3-5, 9
God has so graciously accepted Ephesians 1:6
God has an assignment and purpose for Ephesians 2:10
Face the facts of our glorious redemption and position in Christ and say it is so because it is so. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so Psalm 107:2.
