2 Thessalonians 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

The Bible speaks of a love problem in the Last Days prior to Jesus’ coming. Jesus prophesied that the love of many shall wax cold Matthew 24:12. Because iniquity (lawlessness) shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. This would be in addition to times where there would be affliction; killing; hate; offence; betrayal; many false prophets; and deception Matthew 24:9-11. Some have suggested this prediction is only applicable to people during the seven year tribulation period but I believe we are seeing beginning elements of these things even now in the times which we live.

If the love of many waxes cold ā€“ love of what? For the believer I would suggest the love of many would wax cold in their love for:

God (Fellowship).
His Family (Church).
His Word (Read; Study; Meditate; Obey).
His Work (Serving).
His World (Evangelism; Discipleship).

What can we do to keep our love centered on the right things? Pray for the Lord to direct your heart into the love of God (2 Thessalonians 3:5) and keep ourselves in the love of God in the Last Days (Jude 21). Love has devotion, sacrifice, and pursuit and these qualities of love can be identified with our time, investment, effort, protection, interest, and pleasure:

1. We make time for what we love.
2. We invest in what we love.
3. We make effort for what we love.
4. We protect what we love.
5. We show interest in what we love.
6. We take pleasure in what we love
