Genesis 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
The story of the Patriarch Joseph is a powerful example of the favor of God upon a person’s life. Genesis 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” The phrase “found favor in the eyes of” or “in the sight of” can be found not only here in Genesis 39:21, but in numerous passages of Scripture in the OT. Favor is God’s gracious kindness, blessing, and influence upon you that:
1. Causes good things to happen in your life.
2. Causes people to like, notice, promote, and treat you well.
Joseph was in prison (a confining circumstance) but prison couldn’t stop the favor of God. As the righteous in Christ Jesus, favor is ours. Psalm 5:12 also adds, “For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
Ask God to give you favor in the sight of all the people in your interactions, appointments, and contacts in your world today.
