God’s plan is disciples’ not just decisions (to receive Jesus). Part of the Great Commission is to teach people to observe/obey all the things Jesus said Matthew 28:18‑20. True discipleship is reproducing Jesus in people. Jesus wants all true born again Believers to continue in His Word and to become true followers, disciplined learners to all the Word of God for all areas of life.
A disciple is not just conversion, it is continuing to follow and live for Jesus.
A disciple is not becoming a disciple of men. It is becoming a disciple of Jesus. It’s reproducing Jesus in people. It is following men as they follow Christ.
A disciple is not having someone in authority make all your decisions and you follow in unquestioned obedience. (In Matthew 26:28‑46, Jesus prayed, the disciples slept. He didn’t force His will on them, but I’m sure He wasn’t pleased).
Discipleship is a matter of choice and daily deciding to continue in His Word and obeying it.
(Think on this: there were only 120 in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost after 3‑1/2 years of ministry to the multitudes. Following is a matter of daily deciding and continuing to obey).
