Here on Earth things are always changing because everything on Earth has been placed under time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says,” To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Change is always happening and there is nothing on Earth as constant as change. Some change is good but not all change is a change for the better. With the calendar and year changing to 2017 this can cause stress, concern, and uncertainty in our hearts as to what lies ahead. We can rejoice in the face of change if we’ll remember that nothing that really matters eternally has changed. We serve a God whose:

WORD is forever settled in Heaven.

Psalm 119:89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

CHARACTER never changes.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

COVENANT with us will not be altered.

Psalm 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

COUNSEL (plans) stands forever.

Psalm 33:11 The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

The year may have changed but God did not. He is the Rock of our salvation:

Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved…. 5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. 7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. 8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
