Yesterday was Christmas day and Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. Family gatherings, favorite foods, decorations, gifts, time off of school and work are all enjoyable parts of this season. The Gospel truth’s related to Christmas do not end on December the 25th. Jesus wasn’t born just to give us the Christmas Holiday. It was the appearance of the grace that brings salvation to all mankind by the kindness and love of God our Savior Titus 2:11; 3:4. The nature of Jesus’ appearing in that manger, culminating in His sacrifice on the Cross, was that grace that saves mankind from their sins appeared. God’s benevolent love, kindness, and mercy which would accomplish for us what we could not do for ourselves and what we did not deserve, salvation from the penalty of our sins.
Describing His appearance as grace, kindness, and love shouts loud and clear that the first subject of God’s agenda was not to judge, condemn, or punish us. All of that would fall on Jesus as our substitute, the just for the unjust. It is grace that brings salvation by God’s initiative and action, not dependent on meeting conditions to qualify for it except to repent and believe. The fact of the matter is that no human could ever do a work good enough to merit it or meet certain conditions to qualify for it. It is offered freely to all men conditioned on the work done by Jesus our Savior. Oh how great a salvation we have in Jesus!
