Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, v.5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
Christ’ birth was the appearance of the grace of God that brings salvation to all mankind (Titus 2:11). A great definition of grace is as Titus 3:4 defines it as the kindness and love of God toward man. This salvation by grace through Jesus work on the Cross, not by works which we have done, puts Christianity in a class all by itself. Although men participate in various religions with names too numerous to list, in reality there are only two categories of religion on Earth that all religions fall into:
1. MAN’S WORKS – Religions based on human works to attain or merit acceptance, salvation, and forgiveness from God. In these man does a human work, offers it up to God for Him to accept it or respond.
2. GOD’S WORK – Christianity, which is based on a Divine work of grace where God did a work for man and offers it to him for his acceptance or response, conditioned upon his faith or belief.
Jesus’ appearance from the Christmas birth to the Cross and Resurrection is the story of God doing a work for man to pay the penalty for his sins, and the grace of God that bringeth salvation. It was the total work of God for man from the Cradle to the Cross, all of grace. It is available to all mankind through the kindness and love of God.
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS SEASON!
