Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new 2 Corinthians 5:17
As Christians who have received Jesus as Lord and Savior we are new creations. Both Adam and Christ are representative heads of two races, natural and spiritual. We are no longer “In Adam,” but are now “In Christ.” Just like we entered into, partook of, and inherited Adam’s history by natural birth we also entered into, partook of, and inherited Jesus’ history by spiritual birth. We partake of ALL that we are “In” and we are now “In Christ.”
All that we were in Adam was crucified with Christ. We are no longer obligated to identify with the old fallen race, sins, and sin. “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new 2 Corinthians 5:17.” This is our new standing and position “In Christ” before God. It is our position by the grace of God or the work God did through Christ for us. “In Christ” is the grace of God. There are many definitions of the grace of God but included in that is “In Christ,” or who we are by the grace of God.
The Apostle Paul had the revelation of this as his new identity in 1 Corinthians 15:10 where he said, “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” We are somebody by the grace of God and that grace will empower us to do what we are called by God to do. Find out who you are in Christ and tap into the exceeding riches of His grace. Be strong in the grace that is in Christ (2 Timothy 2:1). Search your Bible, the word of His grace, for “In Christ,” truths for that is who you are and what you have by the grace of God.
