THERE’S MORE TO GRACE THAN SAVING GRACE

more-to-grace-than-saving-grace

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

When a person comes to Jesus and is saved, he becomes a child of God, born again. That event took place in their life because of their faith, yes, but also because God has chosen to deal with mankind in terms of grace, or a grace covenant. We are saved by grace. We come to know the grace of God in salvation, or the grace that saves, but getting saved is only the beginning of our Father dealing with us by grace. Our entire life is now to be under grace and to be a further uncovering and unveiling to our hearts of the exceeding riches of His grace.

The grace of God is the very heart of the Gospel and what makes Christianity different than all man-made religions. A revelation of grace is a revelation of Jesus. Jesus was the grace of God made flesh and the One who made it possible for us to reach God. The more you know grace, the more Jesus is revealed to you, and the deeper you fall in love with Jesus.

Our relationship to God in terms of grace is not to end at salvation, but only to begin. There are dimensions of grace most Christians do not know, as the following verses unveil:

2 Timothy 2:1, “Thou therefore, my son, BE STRONG IN the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

Hebrews 12:28, “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, LET US HAVE (HOLD FAST ) GRACE, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”

Hebrews 13:9, “Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart BE ESTABLISHED WITH GRACE; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.”

2 Peter 3:18, “But GROW IN GRACE, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.”

Be strong, hold fast, be established, and grow. All imply a revealing and experiencing of grace beyond saving grace. Our God is the God of ALL grace: saving grace; strengthening grace; laboring grace; gift grace; lifestyle grace; giving grace; financial grace; helping grace; dying grace; …. I believe one of the greatest hazards a Christian can face after salvation is not knowing grace. It will affect all that you are and do if you do understand it, and it will affect all that you are and do if you do not understand it. Grace is sufficient for all of life.
