Joseph Goebbels, Master propagandist of the Nazi regime and dictator of its cultural life for twelve years under Adolf Hitler, was the Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, which gave him total control of the communications media – i.e. radio, press, publishing, cinema and the other arts.
On the big lie he said,
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
Webster’s dictionary defines a lie this way:
1. To make a false statement (or action) that one knows to be false, especially with the intent to deceive;
2. To give a false impression through appearance, statement or influence;
3. A lie can be, not only a false statement, but also using words that confuse an issue in order to conceal or evade the whole truth. It can be the deliberate use of ambiguity (or use of vague, incomplete statements) to mislead.
At any rate, all lies have these two things in common:
1. An intention to mislead;
2. They either falsify or conceal.
I pray that every lie be exposed related to this Presidential election and in our government. God doesn’t just dislike lying He hates it, “These six things doth the Lord hate … (v 19) A false witness that speaketh lies,… Pr. 6:16,19.” I don’t know about you but I am sick of the lies and deceit from those in authority in our nation.
