2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is SUFFICIENT for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 3:4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are SUFFICIENT of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our SUFFICIENCY is of God;
We have a relationship with God on the basis of His grace and our faith all because of Jesus. Grace begins in our life when we first hear the Gospel and it is to continue throughout eternity in the ages to come. Grace is never based on man but always based on God. Grace is everything God has freely done for us because of the work of Jesus on the Cross. With His grace in our lives there is a sufficiency, ability, and a competency for whatever we face. Sufficiency means enough of what’s needed for what is required. It means an ample amount or quantity of what is needed.
Our sufficiency is of God to be able ministers of God 2 Corinthians 3:4-6. Grace is able to make us financially sufficient for all things and even put us in an abounding condition 2 Corinthians 9:8. Grace makes us sufficient in the weak moments of life giving us strength and the power of Christ 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10. If we do not understand grace and the sufficiency it brings we will misread the silence of God in our times of weakness, infirmities, reproaches, necessities, persecutions and distresses. We will think He has abandoned and forsaken us when in fact He has made us able and strengthened us.
No matter what we face, His grace is enough of what’s needed to do what is required. We can find the grace to help in our time of need Hebrews 4:16. To find the grace we need it would have to mean the grace was there before the need was there. God already looked ahead at what we would face and made the sufficient provision of His grace. All praise to the glory of His grace.
