2 Timothy 4:16-18, “At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me…, Notwithstanding the THE LORD STOOD WITH ME, AND STRENGTHENED ME; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
The Holy Ghost is our strengthener. Paul was in a terrible situation. He talks about all those that were in Asia (present day Asia Minor) who forsook him or turned against him (2Timothy 1:15). He was not just experiencing rejection from one or two people, this was a whole region. How in the world was he going to fulfill his assignment when all that was around him was rejection and opposition? Somebody else was standing with him. He did not need the help of man, he needed the help of God.
They all forsook him, but the Lord stood with him. HE DID NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE STRENGTH FROM THE SUPPORT OF SOMEONE ON THE OUTSIDE. HE HAD THE STRENGTH OF THE HOLY GHOST FROM THE INSIDE. It is nice when we get support on the outside, but we have inside support. Everyone of us will face circumstances or situations where everybody seems like they leave us and we face rejection. The Holy Ghost on the inside of us will give us strength. He is in us to strengthen us. At our weakest point He is there to strengthen us.
We have to renew our mind and then we have to be conscious that He is on the inside of us. When we are conscious that He is on the inside of us and we turn within for His strength, He will strengthen us.
