Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
Matthew 21:16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
Psalm 71:14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. 15 My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. 16 I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
Praise is a vital proof of the true Spirit filled life Eph 5:18-20. The Word of God is full of exhortations as well as commands for God’s people to praise everywhere, at all times, and in everything. Praise is also a mighty weapon in our spiritual arsenal.
Psalm 8:2 tells us that when praise comes out of our mouths it stills (stops; causes a cease and desist of) the enemy and the avenger (satan and demonic powers). Jesus quoted Psalm 8:2 in Matthew 21:16 adding clarification to what comes out of the mouths of babes and sucklings that is ordained strength is praise. At the same time it causes our enemy to be still it strengthens us. It is one of God’s ordained ways of strengthening us. Babes and sucklings are mentioned because being young and immature, have no previous warfare experience, yet can still use this weapon.
Praise and strength go together in Scripture. It is one of God’s laws of strength. Little praise – little strength. Much praise – much strength. I’ve never met a backslider vibrant with praise. Somewhere they lost their praise and it is the same place they began to lose their strength. Start your day strong by praising Him all day long.
