2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Christians should be living life on purpose and with purpose. Every person has a purpose and calling in life (2 Timothy 1:9). To discover God’s purpose, we first have to surrender to His primary purpose of not living life just for ourselves or selfishly but for Him (2 Corinthians 5:15). God prepares each of us for His purpose (Ephesians 2:10) and designs or puts into us the necessary equipment to fulfill it. Our calling and purpose is by Divine Design. Here are some clues to our purpose, calling, and His Divine Design in us:
DESIRE – (Desire reveals design; Divine energy of God working in us).
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
PASSION – (Zeal, interest, intensity, motivation; Passion or zeal can be a clue that God’s placed something in our heart that we not only care about but He cares about).
John 2:17 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
GIFTING – (Gifting indicates grace bestowed that motivates us and makes us notice needs others do not see).
Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
PEACE – (Peace aligns us with His leading, timing and opportunity).
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
FRUIT – (Fruit is what is produced and manifests what’s inside).
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
AFFIRMATION – (Mature leaders/believers should also see the gifts God has put in us if we’ve been a faithful steward of it).
1 Timothy 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
