Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Jesus said He would build His Church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18). The word “Church” literally means “the called out ones,” so when we are saved we are a member of Christ’s Body called the Church and we become a “called out one.” Romans 1:6 adds that as saved people we are, “the called of Jesus Christ.” In most of Christianity today and the Body of Christ we associate the word “called” to the Five-fold Ministry of Ephesians 4:11 (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers). We also associate the word “ministry” to the officially ordained. Both calling and ministry are not reserved to a select few but in the New Testament but to ALL Believers. First Peter 4:10 says, “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
Every Believer is called and has a calling.
Every Believer is a minister and has a ministry.
The truth of the matter is that the number one calling and ministry of the Five-fold Ministry is to see to it, help, and equip each Believer for their calling and ministry. Believers need to develop a mentality that says:
I’m called of God
I’m a minister of God
I have a calling and a ministry.
The magnitude of the work of God demands it.
