bounce back power
2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
The Apostle Paul had a unique ministry assignment. He was to complete the deficiency or what was lacking in the revelation. Colossians 1;23 says it this way, “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God.” What was kept secret from previous generations was to be unveiled through what he wrote. As a result of these revelations he faced numerous attacks by the enemy even at one point a messenger form satan (2 Corinthians 11:23-28; 12:7).
2 Corinthians 11:23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
I would say that he faced a little more than what you might call a bad day, setback, or disappointment. The devil constantly tried to push Paul down but he kept getting back up. He was like a rubber ball that bounces higher with the increase of force that it is thrown down with. What could make him bounce back and be so unstoppable? It wasn’t human strength or determination. 2 Corinthians 12:9,10 tells us:
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
He had “bounce back” power – the power of Christ. He said this power would “rest upon”, lit. “to tent upon.” The word for power is “dunamis,” which is miracle power; miracle working ability; force; might; strength and power. It is power for the hard spots in life. It is the same power we have within us and upon us. No matter what has happened in your life in 2015 know of a certainty there is “bounce back power” available as we walk out 2016.
