DON’T FALL FOR UNBELIEF

Hebrews 4:9-11 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man FALL after the same example of UNBELIEF.
2 Corinthians 1:24 Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for BY FAITH YE STAND.

The people who followed God out of Egypt headed for the Promised Land did not enter in. We are exhorted to not follow their example of unbelief. They were close to entering in. They followed the pillar of fire by night and the cloud by day, and in no more than an eleven day journey they could have entered into Canaan’s land (Deuteronomy 1:2). They were oh so close, but that is when unbelief comes to stop you and turn you around. Unbelief can sometimes hit you right when you are about to break through to your Promised Land.
Water boils at 212 degrees. You can get to 211 degrees and get discouraged and say, “This thing will never boil,” but you do not know how close you are. God was ready for them to enter in. The dream He had for them was ready. The people postponed their destiny due to their unbelief. We too can postpone the promised destiny God has planned for us by falling into unbelief. We STAND BY FAITH but we FALL BY UNBELIEF and fail the grace of God. Grace doesn’t fall short of us but we fall short of the grace of God. (It is possible to FAIL Heb.12:15, FALL SHORT OF Heb.4:1, and FRUSTRATE Gal. 2:21 the grace of God).
Unbelief is not the same as doubt. When we doubt we are still wondering, questioning, and are unsettled as to whether or not God’s Word is so and we will trust it. Unbelief has decided it is not so and we will not be persuaded to believe it. It is a state of not believing and a rejection of belief. It is distrust and has an element of disobedience to it. Our God only commands what is right and only promises what is true. He is the Faithful God and He can be trusted and relied upon. The cure for unbelief is faith and “… faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God Romans 10:17.”
