FAITH WORKS BY LOVE

faith by love

Galatians 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Our walk of faith will never be greater than our walk of love. Galatians says, “… faith which worketh by love.” but literally, “faith operating by love.” That means we have to be walking in love as defined by the Word of God of what love is (1 Cor. 13:4-8) in our other relationships or our faith toward God will not work. It also means the direction of our lives cannot be self centered, self serving life, but rather God centered and other centered. It is Christ at the center of our life, the Church at the center of our community, and the Commission at the center of our work. It is interesting to me that in both instances where Jesus said people had great faith (Matt. 8:10; 15:28), they had great faith for the benefit of another.
In many instances in Hebrews 11 where God commended people for their faith , it was God centered and in obedience to advancing His will. Faith doesn’t work if the direction of our life is centered on self interest and self serving. He never gave us faith to establish our covetousness, but rather to obey His commands (and Will). This seems to be a detail many have missed. God didn’t bless us and give us faith for us to create a life where He becomes unnecessary and for us to live independent of Him.
