1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Humility is the secret to continual usefulness for the Lord. We never outgrow the need for humility but it should be something seen on our life like clothing (1 Peter 5:5). Think about humility in its comparison to clothes to see how great a virtue it is. Clothes can be seen, have to be put on, have to fit, warm, protect, and attract.
Everyone wants success in life but the fastest way up is to go down, in humility. God exalts the humble and gives grace to the humble. Humility is something we must choose to do not what someone else does to us. No one wants to feel like they’ve been left out or skipped over. Everyone wants to be picked out and chosen. Corn farmers when picking corn know that it is green corn stands tall but only ripe corn bends low. They pick what is mature.
