Romans 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
One of the things that causes Believers to become weary and feel like giving up is when they see the injustices and things in life that just do not seem fair. Life can be full of inequities but rest in this, our God is just. We tend to want to give up and throw in the towel when life does not go our way or when our prayers aren’t answered in our time. There are no pat answers for these things but I do know that God is more interested in our character, who we are, than what is going on in our circumstances or just His answer.
We have all thought by now Jesus should have surely come. We see and hear of more talk on other religions, more conflicts, more lawlessness, and …. We have to make up our mind that we are going to continue seeking the rewards of glory, honor, immortality, and eternal life. That we are going to keep obeying the Great Commission and disciple people for we’ve already been authorized and deputized to do so. The deeds we do every day will be rewarded. The Christian life will be rewarded in glory, even the smallest deeds. They may not mean much to you now but eternity is a very long time compared to now. We put too high a priority on the temporary but we need to put priority on the eternal. All the temporary is subject to change 2 Corinthians 4:18. If we give up, we will lose eternal rewards.
We need to extend our view of things beyond our immediate circumstances unto ultimate things like the righteous judgment of God described in Romans 2:5-11. To summarize the righteous judgment of God that will give to every man according to his deeds:
1. FOR THE RIGHTEOUS – To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality v. 7 He will render eternal life, glory, honor, and peace to every man that worketh good v.7, 10 (to both Jew and Gentile).
2. FOR THE UNRIGHTEOUS – But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness v. 8 He will render indignation, wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, v. 8, 9 (to both Jew and Gentile).
IT PAYS TO OBEY GOD!
