As I have often visited Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. I am reminded as well as forever grateful for the freedom I enjoy as an American but I realize that freedom was not free. It has been purchased and defended by the soldier throughout our history as a nation and I will honor their sacrifice every day but especially on Memorial Day.
All knowledge must have a basis in God the Creator of all good things. Knowledge disconnected from its foundation in God becomes foolishness Psalm 14:1; Corinthians 1:19-21. Psalm 111.10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom….” This is especially true in our views about self defense, war, the soldier, and sanctioned use of weapons.
We must also have a clear view of man himself, the world we live in, and the devil based on the knowledge from God’s Word so we can conscientiously support our military. I believe the Word of God is in support of those who serve our country in the military, that it acknowledges that there is a time for war, and that the soldier is an extension of government on a national level that God has ordained to exist “For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Rm. 13:4.” May every family that has suffered loss be comforted today. May God protect and help those presently serving to protect us.
