BREAK UP YOUR FALLOW GROUND

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
God has called us all to fruitfulness (John 15), bearing much fruit. The Old Covenant had a provision of blessing of no barrenness (Deut.7:14; Ex.23:26). In the New Covenant, which is better and upon better promises, is that all would be fruitful implying no barrenness as well. Although there are churches growing in quality, not quantity; and in quantity, not quality; no church is fully fulfilling God’s total plan of quantity and quality in all areas.
Barrenness in quantity and barrenness in quality doesn’t come without a cause. The cause is not always mysterious (if we can identify causes, we can find remedies). We need to remove the causes whether Satanic or human. Barrenness means: Unable to produce; unable to conceive; to be hard and stiff; to be nonproductive, not functioning properly; lack of fruitfulness, and to be unfruitful. If the true heart of the church is (hard) unable to conceive, there’s no sense pounding the seed in. The soil or the ground needs to be changed. Something needs to be done to prepare the ground, to prepare the heart of the church.
Hosea 10:12 shows the need to break up the fallow (untilled; unplowed) ground, the ground once productive but left uncultivated has a crust layered over it. Faith without following or faithful obedience causes our heart to become fallow. Each act of disobedience puts a crusty layer over our heart. Heartfelt repentance and confession is one way of plowing deep. It’s time to seek the Lord.
